Core Research Facilities

The Hope Center administers a number of shared resources and facilities to encourage translation of basic science discoveries into therapies for brain diseases. Core facilities provide access to specialized equipment, expertise, and service which might not otherwise be available to individual investigators or laboratories.

Three research facilities (Animal Models Core, Viral Vectors Core, Alafi Neuroimaging Laboratory) and were initiated as Hope Center cores when the Hope Center was established in 2005. In October 2006 Washington University received a major NIH grant to create the Neuroscience Blueprint Core (NBC), which provides additional shared resources for interdisciplinary neuroscience research.  New equipment and facilities continue to be added in response to investigator needs and funding availability.

Hope Center and Neuroscience Blueprint Core facilities are available to the Washington University Neuroscience community. Investigators who utilize these resources are expected to acknowledge funding support (Hope Center and/or Neuroscience Blueprint Core) in their presentations and publications.
