About Hope Happens

The Hope Center for Neurological Disorders is a collaborative alliance between Washington University in St. Louis and Hope Happens, a St. Louis-based non-profit public charity.

Chris Hobler and his family Hope Happens (previously called ALS Hope) was founded in 2002 in St. Louis by Chris Hobler and his family. Its objective is to find cures for several of the major neurological disorders, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS, also called Lou Gehrig's Disease), by funding innovative research and inspiring scientific collaboration. Chris Hobler saw his diagnosis of ALS as an opportunity to lead the fight against this and other neurological disorders. Although Chris lost his battle with ALS in February 2005, his mission continues in a tangible way through Hope Happens and its funding of the Hope Center.

Thanks to generous support from the community, Hope Happens has turned one family’s fight against ALS into the fight of many against society’s major neurological disorders.
