Protein structure and function
The Fu Lab lab focuses broadly on protein structure and function, with a particular emphasis on:
- Mechanotransduction in the brain: Examining how mechanical forces in lesioned regions are sensed by mechanosensitive Piezo channels.
- Amyloid-β fibrils in neurodegenerative diseases (e.g., AD, CAA): Investigating structural differences in parenchymal vs. vascular deposits and their pathological implications.
- Synaptic signaling mechanisms: Studying how signals are transmitted and received in synapses.
- Native structures of Class C GPCRs in the brain: Exploring mGluRs, GABAB, and calcium-sensing receptors.
