Understanding the mechanisms of chronic neuropathic pain

The Chamessian Lab at Washington University School of Medicine is dedicated to understanding the mechanisms of chronic neuropathic pain and translating discoveries into novel diagnostics and therapeutics. Our research integrates molecular and cell biology, multi-omics technologies, preclinical animal models, advanced imaging, and drug discovery methods to uncover the fundamental processes driving neuropathic pain.

By leveraging human biospecimens, cutting-edge experimental approaches, and interdisciplinary collaboration, we aim to develop targeted pain therapies and precision diagnostics that improve patient outcomes. We derive inspiration and motivation for our research through direct engagement with patients living with neuropathic pain. Our work is driven by scientific rigor, innovation, collaboration, integrity, and a commitment to alleviating suffering.

Through high-impact research, translational partnerships, and mentorship of the next generation of pain scientists, the Chamessian Lab strives to redefine how neuropathic pain is understood, diagnosed, and treated.
