Molecular Mechanisms of Early Onset Muscle Disease

My lab investigates how perturbations in the gene regulation machinery lead to early onset muscle disease. Mechanistically, we are focused on a severe multi-system early onset muscular dystrophy, facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD). Clinically, we are advancing pediatric neuromuscular clinical trials and working with clinicians in the fetal care center on the diagnosis and treatment of early onset neuromuscular disorders. Our long-term goal is to develop diagnostic tools and innovative therapies to treat early onset muscle disorders prenatally and postnatally.
