Understanding neural, molecular, and other biological mechanisms underlying psychiatric disorders and related behavior

My research program broadly examines genomic and environmental correlates of psychiatrically-relevant brain function and behavior, as well as risk for psychopathology. We use a host of diverse methods including neuroimaging (fMRI, MRI) and EEG, molecular genetics and epigenetics, and family-based design, as well as behavioral assessment and pharmacologic and environmental challenge. Consistent with the goals of the Hope Center, my research seeks to understand the neural, molecular, and other biological mechanisms underlying psychiatric disorders and related behavior to ultimately contribute to improved nosology, treatment, and prevention.
