Bioengineering platforms for nervous tissue regeneration after injuries or diseases
My research program aims to create bioengineering platforms for nervous tissue regeneration after injuries or diseases. Specifically, we are focused on developing cutting-edge biomaterial approaches (Hydrogels, nanoparticles, nanofibers, etc.) to
- modulate injured/diseased nervous tissue microenvironments, such as building blood vessel networks at the lesion site after traumatic brain/spinal cord injuries or ischemic stroke,
- direct exogenous/endogenous stem cell fates, such as improving transplanted stem cell survival and expediting neuronal differentiation and maturation, and
- facilitate functional nervous tissue regeneration and integration.
